IIPM Across India

Apart from management education IIPM’s key focus is on various other spheres too. This has empowered IIPM with learning curves in various sectors that have become undoubtedly the benchmarks across the globe.

IIPM dares to look beyond, and proudly understands that what we teach today, others adopt tomorrow .

A proposal by Dr. M.K.Chaudhuri to set up the Institute under the name of “Institute for Planning and Administration of National Economy” was forwarded to Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, the then Prime Minister and Chairman, Planning Commission, Government of India. A study tour was undertaken by Dr. M.K.Chaudhuri during 1964-65 to acquire first hand knowledge about the working of similar institutions in Europe. A working paper on Regional Planning was circulated under the name of “Indian Institute of Planning” in 1969.

The IIPM Institute was established in 1973. IIPM founder Director took over as Research Professor and Director after resigning from professorship of Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore. The first IIPM residential Full-Time Post Graduate Diploma Programme commenced on 12th August, 1974, with students selected through admission tests-cum-interviews held in IIPM Delhi, IIPM Calcutta, IIPM Bombay and IIPM Bangalore.
